The Southwest Indian Agricultural Association (SWIAA) was formed in 1987 to promote the future of agriculture on reservations. The founders included tribes and individual Indian and non-Indian farmers, ranchers and businessmen.

The harmony of man, soil, water, vegetation and wildlife—our agricultural community—influence our emotional and spiritual well-being. These valuable and renewable natural resources provide sustenance, income and employment. Carefully managing our agricultural resources on Southwest Indian reservations is vital to our economic and social welfare.
